JEREMY IRONS - "Humbert Humbert"

Jeremy Irons made his debut playing the choreographer Fokine in Herbert Ross film Nijinsky.

His next role was the Meryl Streep-obsessed hero of The French Lieutenant's Woman, which won him the Variety Club Award for Best Actor and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award nomination.

He then appeared in Jerzy Skolimowski's award-winning Moonlighting as a Polish immigrant and in Harold Pinter's Betrayal as the lover.
